INTRODUCTION
Due to a computer virus named "Leopard Seal" all computer data about penguins has been eliminated from the World Wide Web.  In order to restore this information you have been chosen by the President of the United States to join an expedition to all known penguin sites across the globe.  Your mission is to rediscover all known facts about the major penguin species, including their habitats, characteristics, and diets.

TASKS
The students will research a specific penguin species, log the facts, create a drawing, and present their findings to the class.

RESOURCES
Pete & Barb's Penguin Pages Dive in here to start your expedition.
Penguin Adaptation  Use this site to view penguin drawings.

PROCESS
1.  Go to the internet sites above to find information to complete your Penguin Expedition Log.
2.  As you find your information, each researcher needs to record the answers on their Penguin Expedition Log.
3.  With your research team, create an actual sized drawing of your penguin, make sure to color it realistically.
4.  As a group present your drawing and information from your Penguin Expedition Log to the class. Be sure to include 3 unique facts about your penguin.
5.  Complete the Penguin Collected Data Chart as you listen to each group's oral presentation.

LEARNING ADVICE
1.  Make sure you visit all of the links to help you record all of the information about your penguin.
2.  View pictures of your penguin to help you produce an accurate drawing.
3.  View Group Rubric to see how your group can earn the most points possible.
4.  Listen carefully as other groups report on their findings and complete the Penguin Collected Data Chart.  Keep this information in a safe place for later reference.

EVALUATION
The Group Rubric above will be used to assess your project.
