RIBBON WEEK
A week of exciting and meaningful activities help students develop an
awareness of drug abuse. JUST SAY NO to drugs!
ACADEMIC OLYMPICS
Fifth grade students compete in a variety of academic areas.
Number sense, oral reading, creative dramatics, music memory, and
picture memory are different areas of competition. This is a district
wide event that is anticipated by all. All student participants receive
bronze, silver or gold medals for their achievements.
ACCELERATED READER
Students are encouraged to read and test on age/grade appropriate books
to earn points which are accumulated and may be spent at a school store
at the end of each semester. Student progress is tracked on murals
displayed in grade level hallways.
FIELD DAY
On a Friday in May, all Travis students participate in outdoor games.
Students are awarded ribbons for particpating in the various events.
Students should wear tennis shoes and comfortable clothing so to safely
participate in the outdoor activities. Parents and volunteers are
needed to help make this activity a fun and safe event for the
students. Also, parents are asked to provided sport drinks and water
for the students and volunteers. This event is a reward for the
students' hard academic work during the school year.
CHANGE FOR A CAUSE - CHILDREN'S MIRACLE NETWORK
During September, students bring in change to be donated to Children's Miracle Network.
RELAY FOR LIFE
Throughout the year, through festivals, teacher-jean days, and other fundraisers, Travis Patriots raise money for Relay for Life.
MAKE A WISH FOUNDATION
Throughout the year, money is raised for the Make a Wish Foundation. Teachers contribute by donating money in order to wear jeans on Mondays.
