
| Elementary GT Program
Elementary students grades K-5 are identified in the area of general intellectual ability and served in the four core areas of learning: language arts, math, science, and social studies. These students participate weekly in a five-hour enrichment class taught by a qualified gifted/talented teacher. The elementary curriculum includes: technology training, use of research skills, novel reading, creative and critical thinking, problem-solving, and acceleration. Secondary GT Program Secondary students grades 6-12 are identified and served in the area of specific subject matter. Pre-Advanced Placement and Advanced Placement Courses play a valuable role in preparing our students in the academics and providing experiences of a high level of achievement. Students may also enroll in Distance Learning and concurrent enrollment classes through TSTC, UTB and UTPA. Advanced Placement Exams Students may choose to take Advanced Placement Exams in May. They are offered in many subject areas. Students with high scores on AP exams may receive college credit. College Board
Distinguished Achievement Program Students may participate in the Distinguished Achievement Program during high school. In order to earn this prestigious diploma, they must complete course work for the Recommended Program in addition to completing four advanced measures of performance. These may include original research or projects, high scores on AP, IB, or PSAT exams, and high grades on completed college courses. |
